European regulations for cars and auto parts

European legislative framework concerning vehicles and their parts - The automotive industry is, probably, the most regulated industrial sector. There are now over 100 technical regulations concerning the manufacturing and functionning of vehicles, especially in the fields of environement and security, that correspond to social priorities.
It is estimated that over 50% of the volume of technical regulations included in the taskbook of a vehicle derive from technical regulations. Vehicle conception, and also the conception of their parts can no longer be done without a good knowledge of the technical regulations, and without these being well applied and correctly validated.
These rigurous and complex regulations have become a technological evolution vector in this industry, despite the fact that it affects sensibly the production costs. The european technical regulations are applied in the european community through the system of homologation/reception, mandatory for complete vehicles in the EU; through thisi instrument were instated equitable competition conditions for european and non-european manufacturers in the whole community. They guarantee a correct functionning from this point of vue of the community market. The European regulations linked to the automotive expand their application also beyond the EU.
Romania has assimilated, without exceptions, along with it’s adhesion to the EU, the whole package of technical regulations that conditions the communty type homologation and registration in any of the member states.
